Writing film about mobster Lucky Luciano

Crash Writer Bobby Moresco Presses His Luck

Bobby Moresco, the writer/producer who won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Crash, which also stole the Best Picture Oscar from heavily favored Brokeback Mountain, is pressing his luck, so to speak. Moresco will write a screenplay about famed New York organized crime lord Charles "Lucky" Luciano.

The film will be produced by Joseph Isgro, a former record promoter who was accused (and subsequently cleared of) being tied to the Gambino crime family, through his Full Force Productions company. The film will track Luciano's rise from an NYC hood to the patriarch of his crime family, focusing on how the mobster leveraged his cooperation in the country's World War II efforts in order to receive a pardon for his crimes. Moresco remains busy, as he is also working on a TV series based on Crash.
