Wants to make a sports movie with Chinese athletes
John Woo Has Olympic Fever
Chinese director John Woo has Olympic fever. The famed helmer has said he wants to make a movie with Liu Xiang, a hurdler, and Guo Jingjing, who won several gold medals for diving. Woo announced at a charity dinner in Beijing that he has wanted to make a sports-themed film for a while now and that he wants to use real athletes in order to accurately portray the athletic spirit.Woo mentioned Xiang and Jingjing as they are the country's most well-known sports celebrities. Woo is currently up to his ears in projects, including 1949, a World War II epic, and a film adaptation of the graphic novel Caliber, which Johnny Depp will star in, so his dream to make a sports film will have to languish on the back burner a little bit longer.
