Guillermo del Toro and Universal Make Commitment to Horror
Guillermo del Toro may earn the title of Hollywood's busiest director. Del Toro has a three-year first look deal with Universal, which he signed in 2007, and he has been scheduling projects left and right ever since. Del Toro and the studio are showing their commitment to the horror genre, with del Toro agreeing to direct remakes of classic horror films Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He will also helm a remake of Slaughterhouse-Five.Additionally, del Toro will direct the feature film adaptation of the novel Drood. The book, written by Dan Simmons, is scheduled to be published in February. Del Toro remains interested in directing an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness as well. Meanwhile, del Toro is focused on the tasks at hand, which are his work on The Hobbit and The Hobbit 2.
