Fox Searchlight Wrestles to the Finish Line

Fox Searchlight has won the bidding war for the U.S. rights to The Wrestler, the Darren Aronofsky-directed, Nicolas Cage-produced drama starring Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei. Fox Searchlight edged out serious competition from Overture, Senator, and Lionsgate in their quest.

In the film, Rourke portrays a wrestler attempting to make a comeback, with Tomei playing a stripper that Rourke's character befriends. The wrestler eventually develops a friendship with her son. The movie will be released later this fall and recently won the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival.
