Shocking just about everyone
Elbow Wins Mercury Prize
While they've always been more popular in their native UK than in the U.S., Elbow stunned Mercury Prize observers yesterday by beating such favored artists as Radiohead, Burial, and the Last Shadow Puppets. The band's critically-acclaimed Seldom Seen Kid joins such recent winners as Klaxons, Arctic Monkeys, and Antony and the Johnsons."[This is] quite literally the best thing that's ever happened to us," frontman Guy Garvey said during his acceptance speech.
