AMC Chain Pulls Hounddog From Theaters
The AMC movie theater chain has yanked Hounddog, the new indie drama starring 14-year-old ingenue Dakota Fanning, from its multiplexes due to a controversial rape scene featuring the actress. The chain has pulled the film from its 5,117 cinemas across the country. Intense pressure from family values groups over the rape scene caused AMC to cave and ultimately remove the film from screens.Hounddog is a provocative Southern tale set in 1950s rural Alabama, featuring Fanning as Lewellen, a young girl who finds comfort and safety in the music of fellow southerner Elvis Presley.
