Sarah Jessica Parker to Spin Like Butter

Sarah Jessica Parker stars in Spinning Into Butter, a racially-charged drama which has just been picked up by Screen Media Films for North American Distribution. Parker also produced the film, which is an adaptation of a play by Rebecca Gilman.

In the film, Parker portrays the liberal dean of a college in New England who confronts issues such as political correctness and hidden prejudice when a black student begins receiving racist letters. The film also features Paul James, Beau Bridges, and Miranda Richardson. Screen Media will release the film in the first quarter of 2009 in New York, Los Angeles, and five other cities before rolling out on a larger scale. During the film's 2005 shoot, the production ran into financial problems, which left cast and crew temporarily without pay. Those issues have been resolved.
