Moby Dick Remake in the Works
Thar she blows! Timur Bekmambetov, the Russian director of the summer hit Wanted, will direct Universal's remake of Herman Melville's Moby Dick. Writers Adam Cooper and Bill Collage penned the screenplay. The script will pay homage to Melville's timeless story, but Cooper and Collage will update the story for modern times, melding a graphic novel and action-adventure style. Melville's first-person narration has been replaced with a broader view of Captain Ahab as a charismatic leader and a depiction of the whale's damage to other ships prior to its encounter with Ahab and his Pequod. The film will capitalize on special effects.
