Hammer Films Back From the Dead
Hammer Films, a British-based production shingle, has returned to filmmaking. The company will relaunch with The Wake Wood, a horror film which marks Hammer's first in over 30 years.Hammer is returning to the horror genre, which helped build its legendary reputation. The company's last feature was 1976's To the Devil a Daughter. The company's first new film will be The Wake Wood, featuring Timothy Spall, Aidan Gillen, and Eva Birthistle.
The film centers on a pair of grieving parents who are mourning their daughter, who was tragically mauled and killed by a savage dog. They are granted the chance to spend three more days with her before she dies. The film will shoot in Ireland and Hammer is slating a Fall 2009 release.
