    Phish Confirm Reunion Rumors

Phish has announced a run of reunion shows next March at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia, one of the band's favorite venues and the site of a six-CD set called Hampton Comes Alive. According to the band's spokeswoman, Ambrosia Healy, Phish will play March 6-8, with more 2009 dates to be determined soon.

"Sometimes you hear bands say 'We're breaking up' and a year or two later, they come back," Jammy Awards co-founder Peter Shapiro told the Associated Press. (Phish was honored at Shapiro's award show earlier this year.) "By the time they come back, it'll be almost five years. That's a fair amount of time for them to do what they needed to do, on an individual level. And probably it was enough time to realize they needed to get back together as a group. They got the itch."

Phish has released 11 studio records. They'll add another live set to the mix on November 18 with the release of At the Roxy, an eight-CD collection that covers a three-night residency from Atlanta in 1993.

"The fans are much more excited than I expected they'd be," Ellis Godard, the Webmaster of phish.net, said. "The fan base—the people who used to tour with them—is older. They have kids and jobs. But all the people who said they didn't care are absolutely nuts."
