Depeche Mode Renew Mute Deal
Depeche Mode held a press conference in Berlin yesterday, announcing initial dates for their 2009 Tour of the Universe and the renewal of their long-term contract with Mute/EMI overseas. (No word yet on whether Mute will keep licensing Depeche Mode records to Warner Bros. in the U.S.) The band's extensive tour includes 28 stadium stops so far, starting on May 10 in Tel Aviv and extending as far as a July 11 gig at Portugal's Super Bock Super Rock Festival. North and South American dates will be announced soon, along with details of the band's twelth studio album, which is expected in early spring of next year.Depeche Mode's last tour was in support of their 2006 LP, Playing the Angel. According to Nielsen SoundScan, it's sold 423,000 copies in the states.
