DreamWorks, Universal Team Up
Steven Spielberg is taking DreamWorks to Universal. The director has struck a theatrical distribution deal with Universal Pictures. The agreement spans seven years, covers six films per year and begins in late 2009. The deal closes the door on Spielberg's partnership with Paramount, a saga that has been quickly resolved by Hollywood standards.Spielberg and DreamWorks' Stacey Snider envision DreamWorks as a private production company funded by loans from investment banks and India's Reliance Big Entertainment. Disney and Fox were named as possible distribution partners, but Spielberg has a long running relationship with Universal and ultimately chose to go with the studio.
