BET Names Lil Wayne Lyricist of the Year

BET held the taping of its annual Hip-Hop Awards on Saturday in Atlanta. Among the show's appearances were T.I., Soulja Boy, Busta Rhymes, Young Jeezy, Salt-n-Pepa, MC Lyte and more. While T-Pain hosted instead of comedian Katt Williams (the station's original choice), LL Cool J presented Russell Simmons with the "I Am Hip-Hop" award. Other winners included Lil Wayne (lyricist of the year) and Shawty Lo (MySpace Music's Rookie of the Year award).
