'Rock Band 2' Announces First Round of Free Songs

Underoath, Authority Zero and Semi-Precious Weapons are among the 20 acts included in a free package of Rock Band 2 songs, available for download starting November 4.

"The Rock Band platform is an unparalleled destination for music discovery—offering a broad cross section of rock, from iconic rock artists to emerging bands," Paul DeGooyer, MTV’s Senior Vice President of Electronic Games & Music, said in a statement. "With the addition of the 20 new songs we’re announcing today, owners of Rock Band 2 will have the ability to experience music from over 100 artists—ranging from the acts they already know and love to up-and-coming bands we think they will like."

In related news, Microsoft revealed that Xbox Live users download an average of 3.8 million Guitar Hero/Rock Band songs per month.
