Zac Efron to Get Footloose for Paramount
Zac Efron may be graduating from High School Musical, but the youngster's career is moving full steam ahead. The actor will star in Paramount's recently fast-tracked remake of the 1984 musically-themed classic Footloose.Peter Sollett, the director of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, will rewrite the script. The film will aim to attract a demographic that's slightly older than typical HSM and Efron fans. Efron will receive a mid-level seven figure salary for the film and has script approval.
Craig Zadan, who worked as a producer on the original film which made Kevin Bacon a household name and launched a mega-successful soundtrack, will also produce the remake. The remake will feature new tunes sprinkled among the classics.
