Charlize Theron Teaming With Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman
Blonde stunner Charlize Theron is set to star opposite former married couple Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in two separate films.Theron is negotiating to star with Cruise in The Tourist, the remake of a 2005 French thriller that was called Anthony Zimmer. Bharat Nalluri will direct. Theron would tackle the role of a female Interpol agent who uses an American tourist in order to smoke out a criminal with whom she was once romantically involved. Cruise will play the unfortunate tourist. Producers are eyeing a March 2009 start date once the script is finalized.
Theron will also star with Kidman in The Danish Girl. It's worth noting that both actresses picked up their Academy Awards by playing roles for which they underwent extreme physical transformations. The actresses will once again push the limits of their looks when they team up to star in this film, which is based on the true story of Danish artists Einar and Greta Wegener. Kidman will produce the film and portray Einar, the transsexual partner of Greta, played by Theron. Einar stands in and replaces a female model that his wife was set to paint. After the portrait became popular, Greta encouraged her husband to continue to appear as a female. Einar became increasingly comfortable in the female guise and eventually underwent a sex change operation, which taxed his relationship with his wife.
Shopgirl director Anand Tucker is attached to lens this dramatic tale. The film will be based on David Eberhoff's 2000 novel of the same name, which was a fictionalized account of the Wegeners. No start date has been determined, but pre-production is currently underway.
