The indie electro outfit reveal the influences behind their sonic boom
Guest Collector: Hadouken!
When you name your band after the most renowned special attack from the arcade classic Street Fighter, your music better deliver a hefty punch. That's why UK export Hadouken! pack their indie with grinding electro beats and spit melodies spiked with cockney attitude. As they gear up to bring their debut, Music for an Accelerated Culture, stateside, we caught up with the group via email to get a list of their favorite albums and catch a glimpse of what to expect from their US invasion.
Prodigy - ExperienceProbably the biggest single influence on our sound and production.
Radiohead - OK ComputerRadiohead's constant evolution as a band is massively inspiring and something we will always aspire to.
The Streets - Original Pirate MaterialMike Skinner is definitely one of our favorite current lyricists and this is his finest work.
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say That I Am, That's What I'm NotAnother great lyricist and a fantastic band, infinitely superior to the rest of the current crop of British indie bands.
At The Drive In - Relationship of CommandA hugely underrated classic, we put this album on before going on stage to get everyone hyped.
Bloc Party - Silent AlarmOne of the bands that got us excited by live music again when we were starting out.
Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The MachineRap/rock was generally a terrible idea for most bands involved, but RATM were the exception. This album is ace, every track is devastatingly intense.
The Chemical Brothers - SurrenderWe're currently writing and recording our second album and it definitely feels like there will be a distinct chemical brothers influence coming through on some tracks.
Test Icicles - For Screening Purposes OnlyA really fun and exciting album that soundtracked a lot of good times for us when it came out.
Dizzee Rascal - Boy in da CornerDizzee's vocal is incredible, an instant classic.
