Jane Fonda Back on Broadway
Activist, author, actress, and home exercise video guru Jane Fonda, who retired from films only to return in 2005's Monster-in-Law and 2007's Georgia Rule, has been lured back to Broadway after a 40-year absence. Fonda will star in 33 Variations in 2009.Fonda will play a present-day musicologist who studies Beethoven's fascination with a particular piece of music. Playwright Moises Kaufman will direct the play, which will open this winter. The exact opening date has yet to be determined. In a statement, Fonda said, "I am very excited about being in Moises' new play. I can't wait to get back on stage with him in this role that I understand so well." Fonda last appeared on Broadway in the 1960s.
