Jaden Smith to Play New Karate Kid
Jaden Smith, the 10-year-old son of Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith, has been cast in the Columbia Pictures remake of the classic 1984 film The Karate Kid.Jerry Weintraub, a producer on the original, will be back for this film, once again in a producer capacity. The elder Smith will also produce the film. Father and son starred together in 2006's The Pursuit of Happyness.
The script is currently being written and the film will shoot next year in Beijing and other cities. The location of the film has been changed to a more exotic, foreign locale, but elements of the original plot will be retained.
