Jimi Hendrix Drummer Found Dead in Hotel Room
Mitch Mitchell, the Jimi Hendrix Experience's drummer, was found dead early Wednesday morning in a Portland hotel room. He was 62.Mitchell, who also played with Jeff Beck, Terry Reid and Jeff Bruce over the course of his career, was enjoying a break after the Experience Hendrix tour at the time of his passing. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner's office has said he probably died of natural causes.
"We're all devastated to hear of Mitch's passing," Experience Hendrix CEO Janie Hendrix said in a statement. "He was a wonderful man, a brilliant musician and a true friend. His role in shaping the sound of the Jimi Hendrix Experience cannot be underestimated."
