Annette Bening, Naomi Watts Go for Mother and Child

Annette Bening, Naomi Watts, Kerry Washington, and Shareeka Epps will star in the emotionally poignant drama dubbed Mother and Child. Rodrigo Garcia will direct.

The film will center on a woman who gave up her daughter at birth over 35 years ago, and will intersect with the story of an African-American woman looking to adopt. Robin Wright Penn was initially attached to star in the film when it was set up at Focus Films and Universal, but the project has since moved to the Mockingbird Films shingle with an entirely new cast. Mother and Child will begin shooting in Los Angeles sometime next year.
