Paul McCartney Reveals Details of 'Very Free' Beatles Track
Paul McCartney has told BBC Radio he intends on releasing a long-lost Beatles track if he gets the approval of Ringo Starr and the estates of John Lennon and George Harrison. Long considered a mythical piece of music, the 14-minute, four decades old "Carnival of Light" was only played in public once—at an electronic music festival it had been commissioned for."The time has come for it to get its moment," McCartney said, adding that he has a master tape of the recording. "(When we made it) I said all I want you to do is just wander around all the stuff, bang it, shout, play it, it doesn't need to make any sense. Hit a drum then wander on to the piano, hit a few notes, just wander around. So that's what we did and then put a bit of an echo on it. It's very free."
The BBC claims that McCartney wanted to include the cut as part of the Beatles' Anthology series, but the rest of the group said no. Here's hoping they changed their mind this time around.
