Director Sylvain White to Direct Losers

Director Sylvain White of Stomp the Yard fame is negotiating to direct The Losers, a feature adaptation of a DC/Vertigo comic.

Producer Joel Silver will develop and finance the film via his Dark Castle banner. Silver will also produce the project, which centers on a specialized and eclectic special ops force that is betrayed and then left for dead. The team recovers and embarks on a quest to locate those who sold them out and why, in addition to fixing various social problems along the way.

The Losers began running in the 1970s and focused on a ragtag group of U.S. soldiers during World War II. The book was relaunched six years ago under DC's Vertigo imprint. The story was revised and modernized by writer Andy Diggle. The Losers isn't White's only comic book project in the works. He also remains attached to direct Ronin, based on the story of a 13th Century swordsman by Frank Miller.
