    Edgar Ramirez to Play Revolutionary

Edgar Ramirez, who will star as Castro rebel Ciro Redondo in the forthcoming Che Guevara biopic Che, has signed on for a role in yet another revolutionary-themed film. He will appear as the title character in Ilich: Story of Carlos for French director Olivier Assayas.

Ramirez will learn at least four lanaguages for his role as a real life, "anti-James Bond" type in the film. The film revolves around the true story of Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, the Venezuelan-born leftist who worked for radical Palestinians and groups in Syria, Libya, Iraq and Romanaia. He was nicknamed "Carlos," hence the title. He eventually founded a worldwide terrorist organization but ended up ridiculed and in exile before being arrested by French police. He is currently serving a life sentence in France. Production begins in January in various locations, including France, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Lebanon and Yemen, to start. The project will be released as a feature film and a three-part television series.
