Gore Verbinski is the Host With the Most
Gore Verbinski of Pirates of the Caribbean fame will produce a remake of the 2006 Korean thriller The Host for Universal through his Blind Wink Productions shingle.The original film, titled Gwoemul, mixed family drama with horror elements. It features a mutant, squid-like creature that develops due to toxins that pollute a river near a military base. The giant squid captures a little girl and her dysfunctional family must work together to regain custody of her. The film was a massive success in Korea, taking in record-breaking revenue during its theatrical run in South Korea. Fredrik Bond, a director of commercials for Nike, Adidas and Levis, will be making his feature-length directorial debut with this redo.
