Disney to Release Beauty and the Beast in 3-D

Disney will re-release its classic tale Beauty and the Beast in Disney Digital 3-D format. The studio has slotted the film for release sometime in 2010, although a specific date has not been chosen.

The film's original producers will oversee the 3-D process, which is expected to take approximately nine months to finish. Beauty and the Beast originally bowed in the theaters in 1991.

Disney has ten films scheduled for release in 2009 and 2010, which is more than any other studio at press time. The studio also plans to re-release Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3-D in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
