Shia LaBeouf is An Associate

Shia LaBeouf has signed on to star in the title role of Paramount's The Associate. The film is based on the to-be-published novel by famed legal author John Grisham. The book, which hits shelves in January, is Grisham's first legal thriller since 2005. Grisham penned a slew of novels that were turned into Hollywood films in the 90s before taking a break from writing legal fiction. Paramount only recently acquired the film rights.

In the film, LaBeouf will play a law student at Yale who is on the cusp of graduation when he accepts a job at a prestigious law firm. He is immediately put to work on a high profile multi-billion dollar lawsuit. No start dates have been announced.
