    Arrested Development Film Taking Shape

Arrested Development fans can rejoice, since a film based on the critically-adored yet ratings-starved dysfunctional family sitcom is slowly but surely taking shape. The show, which aired on Fox beginning in 2002, was cancelled in 2006 but has maintained celebrated cult status since its inception.

Director Ron Howard and Mitchell Hurwitz were both executive producers on the series and the pair are currently in the final negotiation stages with Imagine and Fox Searchlight to bring the film to the big screen. Hurwitz, who created the show, would write and direct the film, with a little help from Howard, who is gearing up for this weekend's Frost/Nixon.

Series stars Jason Bateman and Jeffrey Tambor have hinted in their interviews as of late that a feature-length adaptation of the series is in the works and the Howard/Hurwitz activity only fuels that speculation.
