Joe Satriani Outlines Coldplay Lawsuit
While they denied the plagiarism claims of a small Brooklyn band called the Creaky Boards earlier this year, Coldplay is now facing an actual lawsuit related to the same song, their Grammy-nominated hit "Viva La Vida." Joe Satriani filed a copyright infringement suit against Coldplay in a Los Angeles court last Thursday, claiming the British band swiped "substantial original portions" of his 2004 song, "If I Could Fly." According to a Rollingstone.com report, "the hook to 'Viva' is almost exactly the same as the guitar lick in 'If I Could Fly'."Coldplay's management has not commented on their impending case yet.
