Another Nicholas Sparks novel to hit the big screen

Warner Bros. Nabs Rights to The Lucky One

Author Nicholas Sparks has made a fortune writing romances that are turned into big screen smashes, namely weepers such as The Notebook and Nights in Rodanthe. Warner Brothers has acquired the rights to Sparks' recent best-selling novel, The Lucky One, to the tune of seven figures.

Denise Di Novi will produce the film. She worked on Rodanthe and another Sparks adaptation, A Walk to Remember. The Lucky One centers on a marine who endures three tours of duty in Iraq. He believes that the photo of a woman he carried with him on each tour ensured his good luck and survival. Upon the soldier's return to North Carolina, he sets out to find his good luck charm.

Despite the fact that he has cornered the market on weepy romances, Sparks is shifting artistic gears. The author is currently penning a novel and accompanying screenplay that will be expressly outfitted as a starring vehicle for teen queen Miley Cyrus.
