Atari to Release Despereaux Video Game

Atari has nabbed the rights to the already-designed video game based on Universal's forthcoming animated feature The Tale of Despereaux, which is a family-friendly "tail" about a heroic, gentlemanly mouse. Atari will only distribute the game in North America.

The game was originally scheduled to be released by Brash Entertainment, but that video game publisher went out of business in November, leaving the Despereaux game without a domestic distributor. Atari then swooped in and picked up the rights to coincide with the film's December 19 release date. The film is generating some Oscar buzz, as its storyline has resonance with both children and adult audiences.
