Michael Jackson Puts Prized Possesions On Auction Block

After years of enduring financial woes following his 2003 acquittal of child molestation, Michael Jackson is looking to unload a collection of personal items at auction. Beginning on April 21, 2009, various possessions once owned by the the King of Pop will be placed on the market for bids by the entertainment focused auction house Julien's Auctions. The sale will be shown live on Auction Network with bids accepted in person and online.

Among the over 2000 items for sale will be the iconic bedazzled glove made famous in the singer's 1983 video "Billie Jean" along with the gates that once stood guard at the entrance to his Neverland Ranch estate. That property was in fact placed in default earlier this year before Jackson was bailed out by a private investment company. In addition to paying down debt, Jackson has said that a portion of the auction's proceeds will be donated to the MusiCares charity which provides assistance to musicians in need.

This all points to Jackson getting back to work on his long-discussed new album, which he hinted would be completed soon saying to ABC News, "(I'm) looking forward to doing a lot of great things. I think the best is yet to come in my true humble opinion."
