Doubt, Revolutionary Road, Frost/Nixon lead the pack
Golden Globe Nominations Announced
The 2009 Golden Globes nominations were announced this morning by Brooke Shields, Terrence Howard, Elizabeth Banks, and Rainn Wilson. The 66th Annual Golden Globes will be handed out on Sunday, January 11, 2009 and the telecast will be aired on NBC at 8:00 PM EST.Revolutionary Road, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Doubt, Frost/Nixon, The Reader, and Slumbdog Millionaire were all nominated for Best Drama, while Mamma Mia!, Burn After Reading, In Bruges, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and Happy-Go-Lucky were all nominated in the Best Comedy/Musical category.
Acting powerhouses Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep both nabbed dual nominations this year. Streep scored a nomination for Best Dramatic Actress for her work in Doubt and a Best Musical/Comedy actress nomination for her work in Mamma Mia!. Winslet's nominations both came in the Drama category, for Best Actress in Revolutionary Road and Best Supporting Actress in The Reader.
Leonardo DiCaprio for Revolutionary Road, Brad Pitt for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Sean Penn for Milk, Frank Langella for Frost/Nixon, and Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler all received Best Dramatic Actor nods. Other Best Dramatic Actress nominations went to Angelina Jolie for Changeling, Anne Hathaway for Rachel Getting Married, and Kristin Scott Thomas for I've Loved You So Long. Last, but certainly not least, Heath Ledger received a posthumous Best Supporting Actor nod for his now-iconic role as The Joker in The Dark Knight.
