Akon Enters Guilty Plea to Harassment Charge
Akon pleaded guilty to a harassment charge on Wednesday, admitting he tossed Anthony Smith offstage at a Dutchess Stadium concert in June 2007. The Fishkill, NY, show was captured on tape, leading officials to believe Akon may have caused a concussion in another female fan when Smith landed on her. According to the Associated Press, Akon (real name: Aliaune Thiam) agreed to 65 hours of community service and a $250 fine as part of his plea.—The ARTISTdirect Staff
