Not one but three new records

Prince Unveils Release Plans For 2009

A Los Angeles Times interview has pulled some key info from Prince, including details on three separate 2009 releases. While a "major retailer" is discussing the possibility of releasing physical Prince discs, the artist formerly known as a symbol will press two new albums in digital form on his Web site. The first, MPLSOUND, is "electro-flavored" and brimming with "trippy, experimental pop songs," including one that features Q-Tip. The second, the guitar-driven Lotus Flower, includes a Tommy James and the Shondells cover ("Crimson & Clover") and such original jams as "Wall of Berlin," "Colonized Mind" and "Dreamer."

As for Prince's third release, it's Elixir, the Sade-flavored debut of his protégé Bria Valente. Expect more details on Prince's trio of tantalizing LPs—including specific release dates and that possible big box partnership—soon.
