Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival Announces Trailer Competition
The Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival have announced a competition where budding filmmakers can create the official trailer for the 2009 festival. For the first time in the festival's three-year history, the organizers have created a competition where the winning trailer will play prior to all of the films being screened at the fest, which is scheduled to take place during the Tribeca Film Festival, which runs from April 22 through May 3.All contestants must shoot a re-enactment of a scene from a classic sports film. Three scenes from the football film Remember the Titans and the Jamacian bobsled team movie Cool Runnings have been pre-selected as scenes that should be redone. The recreations are expected to maintain the spirit of the original film and must clock in at under 30 seconds. A panel of Tribeca and ESPN notables will select the top submissions and then choose the winner. The competition began on Monday, January 5 and runs till Saturday, March 7.
Interested parties should log on to http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=tribeca/trailer/contest and download the script pages and eventually submit their videos. The selected shorts will begin airing on www.espn.com in early April, as well. In addition to having the scene serve as the festival's official trailer, the grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to New York City, including hotel and airfare, dinner for two at ESPN Zone, one Apple TV, a $100 iTunes gift certificate, a 16-inch Apple Mac Book loaded with Leopard OS Final Cut software and be able to attend some of the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.
