Relativity Acquires Rogue Pictures
Relativity Media has completed its acquisition of horror film company Rogue Pictures from Universal for approximately $150 million after two months of negotiations. Under the new partnership, Relativity will acquire approximately 30 titles that constitute Rogue's catalogue as well as properties currently in development, including a sequel to last summer's sleeper horror hit The Strangers. The follow up already has a finished script. Relativity will also acquire Rogue's production deal with horror master Wes Craven. Rogue is a relatively new player in the film world, having launched just four years ago as a specialty division.Along with the $150 million, Universal will retain a distribution stake in future Rogue films. The first film to be released after the sale is this Friday's The Unborn, and the new deal will encompass three more films due out in 2009, including Craven's 25/8.
