Forest Whitaker, Mickey Rourke May Be Expendable

Oscar winner Forest Whitaker is deep in negotiations to star in The Expendables, the mercenary drama starring Sylvester Stallone. Stallone will also direct the film, which he wrote.

If he takes the role, Whitaker would portray a CIA liasion for a group of bad ass mercenaries, played by Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li and Randy Couture, who are in South America trying to overthrow an evil dictator.

Stallone has expressed interest in nabbing Whitaker for the role since the film was announced. The actor/writer/director is currently scouting locations, such as Brazil, for the film's planned March shoot. Additionally, Mickey Rourke, who is enjoying the best reviews of his career thanks to his tour de force performance in The Wrestler, has also been added to the cast. He will play an arms dealer who provides weaponry to the mercenaries.
