Jonah Hex Gets A Director
Horton Hears a Who? director Jimmy Hayward will make his live-action directorial debut with Jonah Hex. The film will be based on the DC Comics character and will be released by Warner Brothers.Horton was Hayward's first film and it grossed $154.5 million domestically. He has previously worked as an animator in the Pixar family, with Finding Nemo and Toy Story being a couple of the films in his repertoire.
As we previously reported, Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor were originally hired to direct the film, and even wrote the script. But the pair exited the project over creative differences at the end of last year. The studio is aiming for a March or April production start and eventually selected Hayward to keep the project rolling. The script will remain in tact, with Hayward making a few additional changes.
Josh Brolin will play the title character, a hard-boiled bounty hunter who has a disfigured right side of his face and sports a Confederate Army uniform. Weed Road is also producing the film.
