Leonardo DiCaprio to Beat the Reaper

Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star in Beat the Reaper, a thrilling, complicated drama based on the novel of the same name authored by Josh Bazell, a medical intern. The book is being published by Little Brown and New Regency has just acquired the screen rights to the film. The book was Bazell's first novel and several publishing houses vied to publish it. He eventually nabbed seven-figures for it.

DiCaprio will play an emergency room doctor in New York City whose life is turned upside down after a mobster recognizes him as a former hitman who went into the witness protection program in order to survive. DiCaprio will also act as a producer on the film via his Appian Way shingle.
