    Film being fast-tracked for Disney

McG to Direct 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

McG, fresh off directing the eagerly-anticipated Terminator Salvation and currently working to develop the next installment of the franchise, will direct the family film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo for Disney. Several studios were seeking the chance to work with the hotter-than-hot director, who will reportedly be paid $8 million against 7% of the film's gross.

The film will be an origin story, and will tell the tale of Nemo as he creates the Nautilus warship. The original 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, released in 1954, was the first live-action film made by Walt Disney. It was the second highest grossing film of that year and won three Oscars. The general story, written by Jules Verne, has seen several film incarnations over the years.
