Country Music Hall of Fame Announces 2009 Inductees

Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum held a press conference today, announcing this year's inductees. Among the anointed are Barbara Mandrell, Roy Clark and noted sideman Charlie McCoy, a.k.a. one of the greatest harmonica players ever (see Roy Orbison's "Candy Man" and George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today").

"When I started playing sessions, all I ever wanted to do was perform on these legendary artists' records," McCoy said in a statement. "And now, to be included in the same place that they are is beyond my wildest dreams."

More than 300 voters decide the Hall of Fame's honorees every year. A definite spring ceremony date will be announced soon.
