Nominations were announced for the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards today. At the head of the pack with six nominations is Brad Paisley, who received nods in such key categories as top male vocalist, entertainer of the year and song of the year ("Waitin' on a Woman"). Nipping right at Paisley's spurs is former Trick Pony vocalist Heidi Newfield, who garnered five nominations including top female vocalist and song of the year/video of the year/single record of the year for "Johnny and June."

CBS will broadcast the ACM Awards from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 5. The evening's album of the year nominations won't be revealed until March, but a full rundown of what's been announced so far can be found here.
