Snoop Dogg Makes Nation of Islam Appearance

The Nation of Islam's annual Saviors Day convention was held on Sunday in Rosemont, IL, attracting an appearance by none other than Snoop Dogg. The rapper/actor/all-around entrepreneur gave a $1,000 donation to the Nation and told the Associated Press he's been a part of the organization for a while now.

"That's why I'm here," he explained. "I've been in the peace movement ever since I've been making music. My whole thing is not about really trying to push my thing on you. It's just about the way I live, and I live how I'm supposed to live as far as doing what's right."

Minister Louis Farrakhan, the Nation of Islam's leader, has worked closely with rappers before. T.I. also spoke via a pre-recorded video at Sunday's convention, and Doug E. Fresh attended but did not actually deliver a speech or public statement.
