Jack White Forms Yet Another New Band

While he insists that the White Stripes and Raconteurs are "still happening," Jack White has added a third band to his ever-evolving discography. The Dead Weather—featuring The Kills' Alison Mosshart, Queens of the Stone Age's Dean Fertita, and Jack Lawrence of The Greenhornes and Raconteurs—was announced on Wednesday at a launch party for White's label, Third Man Records. Around 150 guests, including Sheryl Crow, Martina McBride and Meg White, watched as the quartet played songs off of its June debut, Horehound.
"I wanted to go back to my first love which was the drums," White said at the party. (Mosshart handles lead vocals in the band.) "I did it on [the] James Bond [theme] with Alicia [Keys], and I wanted to do it with a band. I wanted to produce from the drummer's seat and see what happens."
"We all collectively decided that 2009 is the year of the daredevil," added Mosshart. "No days off. We're just going to work every single day no matter what we're doing."
