VH1’s long-running—and sorely-missed—Behind the Music series has been green-lit for a season of 10 new episodes, including looks at the lives of Lil Wayne and Scott Weiland.

"It felt like the time is right," Jeff Olde, VH1’s vice president of original programming, said in a statement. "There's all sorts of new artists on the scene who have emerged and have these great stories. And there's other artists that we always wanted to do the first time around." Regular Behind the Music specials stop airing in 2002, with sporadic ones happening between then and 2006. The format will be updated for the show’s reboot but not much beyond relying on more recent footage than producers have in the past. (A New Kids on the Block special with a similar bent was aired last fall.)

"I'm leery about changing certain elements," Olde said. "I think the audience will be mad if we mess with it too much."
