Director Barry Sonnenfeld, known for his work on Men in Black, is attached to both direct and produce an English-language remake of Scandal Makers, which was a huge box office success in Korea late last year.
The film follows a womanizing pop singer whose life comes apart at the seams when he discovers he has a daughter and grandson that he had no prior knowledge of. Sonnenfeld wanted to remake the film because he liked its universal themes. The director is aiming to partner with a major studio and producer in order to develop, finance, and release the project. The original film was released in Korea in December and earned $36 million domestically, a considerable amount in the country.
