Now that drummer/Smashing Pumpkins co-founder Jimmy Chamberlin is officially out of the band, Billy Corgan has sent out a mass E-mail with details about auditions for his replacement.
"Auditions will be held Friday, 10 April in Los Angeles for drummers who are looking to play with The Smashing Pumpkins," Corgan wrote. "They should send their background info, photos and performance web links via email only to pumpkinsdrummer@gmail.com."
In related news, Corgan has started tracking demos for a new Smashing Pumpkins album with engineer Kerry Brown and Electric Prunes bassist Mark Tulin. "It's going well and I'm very happy and in a great mood," the frontman wrote on the band's official site here. "I'm not sad [about Jimmy leaving], actually excited to be working on new [material]. The songs sound like spring!"
