Belle and Sebastian Frontman Readies Musical

Stuart Murdoch—better known as the frontman of Belle and Sebastian—has finally completed his long-delayed musical, God Help the Girl. Members of Smoosh, The Divine Comedy and B&S itself all contributed to the soundtrack, which features new solo songs and a handful of re-cut jams from Murdoch's fulltime gig. Oh yeah—Murdoch also recruited a 45-piece orchestra and real deal composer (Rick Wentworth of Withnail & I) for the affair. The album's first single, "Come Monday Night," can be heard on the musical's MySpace here, right … about … now.

As for who's singing most of the songs on Murdoch's passion project, that'd be Catherine Ireton of the Scottish duo the Go Away Birds. Check 'em out here before all your twee-pop friends do.
