Carlos Santana has signed a multi-year deal with AEG Live—one that runs between May 27 and sometime in 2010. According to Billboard.com, around 36 shows will be performed at the recently-opened Joint in Las Vegas, with tickets ranging from $79 to $299.
"Bringing Santana to the Joint at Hard Rock elevates the entertainment options in Las Vegas," John Meglen, president and co-CEO of AEG Live/Concerts West, said in a statement. "AEG Live set the standard for major residency shows in Vegas with Celine, Elton, Cher and Bette over at the Colosseum, and now we are setting the standard for rock and roll residencies with this new deal."
"Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits" will feature such certified jams as "Evil Ways," "Into the Night" and "Jingo," as backed by Chester Thompson (keyboards), Karl Perazzo (timbales), Benny Rietveld (bass), Dennis Chambers (drums), Raul Rekow (congas), Andy Vargas (vocals), Tony Lindsay (vocals), Tommy Anthony (rhythm guitar), Jeff Cressman (trombone) and Bill Ortiz (trumpet). Frank the Plumber, the designer of Madonna's "Sticky & Sweet" tour, will supervise the stage design and production of Santana's show.
